FourSquare [Explore Your City]

FourSquare FourSquare [Explore Your City]
FourSquare is a great mobile application that connects you and your friends in exploring your city. You would use foursquare to "check-in", which is a way of telling us your whereabouts by your phone. When you check-in someplace, we'll tell your friends where they can find you and recommend places to go & things to do nearby. People check-in at all kind of places - cafes, bars, restaurants, parks, homes, offices. You can earn badges by check-in at a particular place more then others. Once FourSquare determines that you are the person who most frequents a place, you are declared the Major!

To start you would download the application onto either you iPhone, Blackberry, Android or a Palm. If you are not using anyone of these phones but you have web access you could use the mobile website directly. If you have a phone that doesn't have a web browser, you can use our SMS shortcode to check-in by sending messages to 50500 (like this: @ Hana Sushi ! enjoying happy hour and spicy tuna).
What makes this all worthwhile is that local businesses will increasingly offer specials and exclusive discounts to confirmed Mayors. So whip out that phone and connect with your friends, explore your city and make new acquaintances.

IPhone Protection Plan Hidden Costs

iphone hero 20100201 IPhone Protection Plan Hidden CostsApple understands that their iPhone Apple Core protection plan is lacking in properly protecting its users and is releasing a new insurance coverage in June 2010, that is supplemental.

Its main purpose is to protect users that are prone to butterfingers and have a bad case of the dropsies. The coverage should cost about $14.00 per month and allows you in the case of breakage to re-purchase a new phone at a savings. So you are looking at $168 per year for coverage plus re-purchase costs.
The costs for re-purchase are either $99 for an 8GB 3G or $199 for a 32GB 3GS, which is expensive — total investment of approx $200 - $400 this comparatively is lower than the full retail price $699 for a new 32 GB 3GS off-contract. The caveat you must enroll in the plan within 30-days of upgrading/purchasing a new iPhone. So all current customer are left out and not eligible for the coverage which reduces the value of the insurance. Especially since AT&T is launching this service as: “Lack of iPhone insurance is a leading source of iPhone related customer complaints.

iPhone is not "Incredible" Droid

iphone fail iPhone is not "Incredible" Droid

Most iPhone users in New York and San Francisco have had to accept their iPhone's as just being expensive ipod / text tools because they are not able to find a signal in these over-taxed AT&T areas. Bascially, they cannot get a signal but AT&T continues to sell iPhones in those markets proliferating the marketing even more.

iPhone are essentially microcomputers with voice capabilities. It is known that owners of Apple's ultimate device use up to 10 times the bandwidth of normal smartphone users. The result of this overload is spotty service, dropped calls, slow downloads speeds, delayed texts and voicemails.

All the peripheral uses of iPhone such as twittering, checking for sports scores, using google maps and such are what make it useful and what drags down the system. The only way to get any usefulness of the system is to jump off 3G.

Whenever there are big public events where thousands or hundred of thousands of possible iPhone owners will attend AT&T must install temporary cell sites to amplify these services. So that there customer will be able to send text messages, check their e-mail and make calls.

Although AT&T is reaping many benefits from being the exclusive carrier of the iPhone it also has many unhappy customers and its prospects of new growth are questionable.

Blackberry vs iPhone……get ready to rumble.

iphone3gblackberrybold1 Blackberry vs iPhone......get ready to rumble.

The crackberries and icrazies are both in agreement that life is not the same without these devices. Personally, I carry both a Treo and a Blackberry and have become to be dependent on both for different reasons. For those converts who are willing to cross the line to exchange, trading one obssession for another here is what you can expect:

1. The most obvious difference between an iPhone and a Blackberry is that the iPhone lacks a tactile keyboard. Some really feel that have to manuever through the seemingly small screen and smaller visual buttons is just too much.

2. The iPhone's battery life is very short and needs to be charged several times through the day when frequently used.

3. The iPhone's applications store has a database of more than 65,000 apps available. While RIM (Research in Motion's) store has only about 2,000 applications.

4. Apple's Safari web browser is more robust then the only included in the Blackberry.

5. The only service provider for iPhone is AT&T, while Blackberry service continue to be more competitive in pricing.

6. Blackberry allows for several programs to run at once while IPhone is only able to do this with predefined programs. Not being able to run multiple apps can be cumbersome if you are into multitasking a good example is if you were listening to Pandora through the web browser you would not able to check emails.

Despite these examples, Blackberry is strongest in it corporate use while iPhone is a dream consumer product taught to play in business. You decide....
